Register in September for 2009 Schools Walk the Wight

Supported by the Isle of Wight County Press

In 2008 nearly 2000 (actually 1994) children registered for Schools Walk the Wight from 56 Schools, raised thousands of pounds and got fitter into the bargain. The totasl number of walkers was up by over 600 children compared to 2007. Let's make 2009 even bigger still!

Next year schools will be invited participate again.

Details for the 2009 event will be available in September

Schools Walk the Wight is a 'virtual' Walk where pupils build up the mileage in stages - walking to school, walking around the playground or out with their parents at the weekend - until their chosen distance is reached.

Primary Schools - 26 miles

Middle Schools - 72 miles.

They receive a 'mileage card' to keep track of how far they have walked.

Then, if they want, children can join in the last 4 miles on Walk the Wight day from Freshwater to the Needles Park. All Walkers will receive a medal and certificate for completing the Walk.

Want to join in?

Visit the Walk the Wight website in September where the 2009 details will be downloadable. Then you can take it to your school and ask for the Schools Walk the Wight Coordinator who will be arranging everything.

The High School Team Challenge

How fast can you get a team of 10 walkers across the Walk the Wight route from Bembridge to the Needles Park? Your time is based on the last person to cross the finishing line.

To enter your team visit the Walk the Wight website. Each member needs to fill in an entry form, clearly stating the School and Team name.

Any questions, please contact info@emhfunding.com or phone 01983 528989
