This recent study day had cancer as its theme, specialist speakers included, Mr John Makunde, (Consultant Surgeon Urology), Dr Ramesh Babu, (Staff Grade Surgeon, Breast Unit), Anne Snow, (Respiratory Cancer Nurse Specialist), Rob Keating, (Lead Cancer Nurse) and Maria Murphy, (Chemotherapy Clinical Nurse Specialist).
Each speaker gave an insight into their area of expertise, with some common themes emerging such as cause, and advances in treatment.
Other sessions in the day included an end of life update, an update on the cancer reform strategy and a general palliative care update, which included references to the following articles, - Rietjens J, van Delden J, Onwuteaka-Philipsen B, Buiting H, van der Maas P, van der Heide A. Our next study day is on the 25th of September and has End of Life as its theme, topics will include the Liverpool Care Pathway, recognising dying, death in society, the end of life strategy and the question of resuscitation.
